Padmé Amidala stood amongst the ruins of her life and reflected that, perhaps, if she’d chosen a different path – a better path – things wouldn’t have turned out so wrong.

She remembered the exact moment when it all changed: it was three years before her death, when she, against her better judgment, viewed Anakin Skywalker as a man, no longer a boy. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t be dead, dismally passing time by looking back at the life she’d so foolishly lost.

She looked at the vague image of Obi-wan Kenobi which floated through her mind, and she ached with sorrow.
